EduHam, the Hamilton Education Program began as a partnership between the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, HAMILTON, and the Rockefeller Foundation. The Hamilton Education Program combines theatrical experiences with rigorous historical study and creative expression. It makes history more engaging and accessible to students while empowering them to explore and interpret history through their own artistic talents.

Residency includes analyzing primary sources including “Free Thoughts, on the Proceedings of the Continental Congress” by Samuel Seabury, in which the loyalist argues against the plans of the Continental Congress to oppose Great Britain and “A Full Vindication of the Measures of the Congress” by Alexander Hamilton, in which the 19-year-old Hamilton defends the actions of the Continental Congress. Students will understand how the history is conveyed through the artistic expression of Hamilton by connecting the primary sources with song lyrics including the song “Farmer Refuted”.
From learning this process, students will select any Founding Era person, event, or document and tell the story through the method of their choosing including song, monologue, and poem, referencing and drawing inspiration from various primary sources.
